Why do Students Need to Join YES-O
(Youth for Environment in Schools Organization)

Nature provides us with everything we need to survive. It gives us food, shelter, air, water and all necessary things needed for life to exist. It is therefore everybody's concern to protect our own nature for us to maintain human existence. Educating and training the youngster about environmental protection is an important means of transferring the importance of having a habitable place to dwell on. The Department of Education in all Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Philippines, created YES -O, an organization with mandated programs from them aimed to protect/preserve river, forests, mountains, watershed areas, and other attractions of nature. In this article Parents will understand why they needed to pursue the involvement of their children in all YES-O programs and activities for they will become:
1. Youth Leaders- The YES-O usually conducts leadership training and personality development seminars in every camp either national or local events. With these activities leadership qualities of students is being developed that they may use in their real life application especially about protection of our nature.
2. Environmentalists - Taking care of natural bodies of water, watershed areas, and other related activities are the common tags of YES-O Members and Officers. With this trainings , the importance of environmental protection is inculcated in their young minds applicable in their real life situations
3. Scientists - Invention, experiments, knowledge and technology are words related to science. Some YES - O enthusiasts conduct/compete Investigatory Project related to nature preservation. Because of curiosity they resulted to experimental results helpful to our environment.
4. Outernationalists- YES- O members are fortunate. Windows of opportunities are open to them, YES-O develop students community linkages, Government offices connections and even international involvement in environmental preservation. There are so many people around the globe with different nationalities, culture, tradition and religion but united in an idea of Mother Earth's preservation. Through internet and social media, YES-O members can share and get knowledge internationally.
It is therefore a big loss for students who neglected the activities and programs implemented by YES - O and it is an additional capital and profit for those who share their time and effort for the organization. Be proud of being a nature lover, be proud being a YES-O member.
